SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Three years ago, world champion boxer Devin Haney brought back the first title fight in San Francisco in two decades. The San Francisco-born, Oakland-raised fighter would dominate Regis Prograis in front of a sold-out crowd at Chase Center.
After the buzz generated among local fight fans, there were questions about whether or not boxing would be back in The City.
Question answered.
Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) will face Australian Liam Paro (28-1, 16 KOs) in a welterweight championship bout on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Chase Center, a press release announced Thursday.
The evening will have a four-fight card beginning at 5 p.m. PT, with the main event likely to begin around 8:30 p.m.
Haney, the WBO titleholder, will attempt to unify his belt by beating Paro, the IBF titlist.

Haney, 27, is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over former champion Brian Norman Jr. a year ago in Saudi Arabia where he scored a knockdown.
"Oakland is where my story started, and the Bay Area has always been part of who I am. The Valkyries just brought a championship to Chase Center, and on December 19, I plan to keep that championship energy going," Haney said in a news release. “I made history in Australia. Now it’s time to make history at home.”
On the undercard, a 10-round welterweight co-feature will be Norman Jr. (29-1, 23 KOs) and two-time world title challenger Abel Ramos (29-6-3, 22 KOs). The other two fights on the undercard will be announced at a later date.
Ticket information will be announced at a later time.
