With holiday deliveries increasing, Constable Mark Herman’s Office is reminding residents to take steps to prevent thieves from stealing packages from their doorsteps.
The Constable says residents should do the following to keep their packages safe
- Track deliveries so you know when the packages will be delivered
- Bring packages inside as soon as you can
- Request a delivery signature so someone at home has to sign for the package
- Get a neighbor you trust to get your package if aren’t home
- Use a secure locker or pickup location
Other precautions include
- Leave clear instructions for drivers to place deliveries somewhere secure
- Install a video doorbell or security camera.
- Neighbors should keep and eye out for the neighbors. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is urged to report it to law enforcement.
