Republican Ken Paxton has conceded the race for U.S. Senate in Texas to Democrat James Talarico.
Paxton acknowledged the outcome in speech at his Election Night watch party on Tuesday night.
The concession follows a campaign that drew national attention as Republicans and Democrats competed for the seat held by Sen. John Cornyn.
The election marked the end of Cornyn’s tenure representing Texas in the Senate. Paxton defeated Cornyn in the Republican primary runoff, while Talarico secured the Democratic nomination.
